| Our story begins with Fonda Del Mar, a restaurant opened in 2005. Call it homage to our Mexican heritage. Decidedly seafood heavy and fresh, and not a burrito in sight, Fonda soon became a Logan Square favorite. Perhaps we should have sated by our success. But our passion for the international flavor of Mexico City spawned FDM Mexican Cuisine, the chic younger sister of the original. Located in North Center, FDM departed from Fonda's bright folk art and exposed brick intimacy to a spacious, modern interior of sophisticated blond woods and a lounge ambience. Color takes flight here with the exotic dishes of Mexican cuisine. Chocolate brown and jade green moles covering the enmoladas are no less vibrant than the bright pink Yucatean onions atop our famed cochinita pibil. Serving dinner seven nights a week, our menu encompasses antojitos, fresh seafood and meats and chicken dishes that are free from Mexican food clichés. From our jump lump crab cakes to our chile relleno de salmon, we assure you this is authentic Mexican with a cosmopolitan flair. Our weekend brunch is another example of going to Mexico without getting on a plane. In place of chilaquiles, we offer exciting dishe such as French molletes rolls drizzled with black bean puree and melted Chihuahua cheese and quesadillas stuffed with seasoned corn truffle, cheese and squash blossom. With over thirty varied wines and a serene, inviting atmosphere, FDM is the place to socialize and enjoy true-to-form Mexican cuisine. hours of operation dinner Mon-Thur 5:00pm-10:00pm Fri-Sat 5:00pm-11:00pm Sunday Brunch 11:00am-3:00pm |
